Yonder Hill- outdoor free show

Yonder Hill will be playing at the outdoor gazebo in Pine Beach Park on the banks of the St.Laurence River in the Dorval region of Montreal. The show is outdoors(will be moved indoors in case of rain) and is free to the public, it should begin at 7:30 and will go until 9 pm. Bring your lawn chairs and the kids and enjoy the sweet bluegrass sound of Yonder Hill. For those needing more music, T.J. will then rush off to Shaika Cafe to do a set with Virginia’s Folly.

Elfin Fest

T.J. will be performing a solo set at Elfin Fest in Ontario on Saturday June 26th at 3;40 pm. with so many great musicians there , there should be some surprise guests. Elfin is located north of Kingston near Perth, and is put on by Jenny Whitely.

Bluegrass in Montreal

Looking for old-time country or bluegrass music in Montreal? There’s a few places I try and make it out to weekly to pick and sing; each has it’s own particular charm…
Monday : Bob Fuller’s Hillbilly Night :THE WHEEL CLUB; 3373 Cavendish blvd.Bob Fuller’s hillbilly night has been going strong for over 40 years! Old-time Country Club of Canada openstage(i.e.;you can perform 2 country songs written before 1965 while backed by the band.) buy a raffle ticket!

Wednesday: The Woodchippin Wednesdays  : CAFE SHAIKA; 5526 Sherbrooke st West/ Girouard. traditional Bluegrass Open-Mic with Terry Joe and Roger Haughey  backing up any and all pickers and singers playing  some hot instrumentals and old-time favorites! good music and good times and pleasant atmosphere.
Thursday : Moonshiner’s Jam : GRUMPY”S; 1242 Bishop st.. Terry Joe hosts an Acoustic old-time,country and bluegrass, circle jam.

Sunday : Bluegrass at the Barfly : THE BARFLY;4062 St.Laurent blvd.. Bluegrass openstage, 3 songs with a pick-up band backing singer.hat-passed.

First Friday of the Month : Finnigan’s Folk Circle FINNEGAN’S;5050 Queen Mary. Folk circle jam held the first Friday of the month at Finnegan’s pub (near Snowdon metro)

CCMA nominee

Terry Joe, DESERT HEAT’s multi-instrumentalist, was nominated for a Canadian Country Music Award to be part of the ALL-Star Band in the “Specialty Instrument” Catagory for his banjo playing. The boys in the band say they are already proud of him, if he wins maybe his mom will be too!!The awards are Sept.10th.
